Track and Field Officiating Clinic

Track and field in Edmonton is a year-round sport. In 2016 we will have a very busy indoor season, followed by an outstanding outdoor season. Canadian athletes excelled at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing and came away with eight medals, two of which were gold. Those athletes, plus others with great potential, will be in Edmonton in July 2016 vying for a spot on the team that will represent this country at the Olympic Games in Rio.

Now  is the time to begin your career as a track and field official by attending our introductory officiating clinic. Everybody is welcome. And there is no charge.

DATE:             Saturday, 23 January, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

PLACE:          University of Alberta, Van Vilet Centre, Room 4240

This clinic will provide a general overview and is being held at the same time as the Saturday morning session of the Golden Bear Open. If you wish, you can put into practice what you have learned at the afternoon session of the GBO. Other meets, such as the provincial championships and the Running Room Indoor Games, will provide similar opportunities.  As a track and field official, you will be helping to make sure that our athletes, who range in age from peewees to masters, are given an opportunity to do their best under the fairest conditions possible.
